Necrology (Album 2009)
Grade: 4 / 5

In times when the extreme metal scene has more or less turned into a competition of which band plays the fastest and most technical music, it's a relief that bands like My Own Grave still exist. Don't get me wrong, the songs have inredibly fast parts and are far from easily played, but despite this the quintet maintains the quality of the songs.

Even though the debut album Unleash (2006) was competent, it feels uneven. This time the guys have definently found their sound. We're talking about old-school death metal in a modern package, with great traces of both thrash and black metal. Necrology offers many strong songs with sing-along-choruses, and the title track Necrology and Disciples of war are two clear examples of this. Absolute world class death metal!
